High Cliffs

This magnificent custom-built home was designed for one purpose: to place you at the edge of the world. Perched in the peaks of western North Carolina, this home doesn't simply sit in the mountains — it becomes part of them. Every wall of glass, every timber beam, every stone threshold was considered in relationship to the land around it. From the great room, huge glass windows frame a sweeping view of layered Blue Ridge ridgelines.

Heavy Douglas fir and white oak timbers — hand-selected for character, hand-hewn for texture — rise through the interior with a weight and warmth no steel or drywall can replicate. Overhead, the open post-and-beam ceiling soars to cathedral heights, the wood grain overhead as rich and varied as the forest outside.

The full-height stone fireplace rises from hearth to peak in a column of hand-laid mountain fieldstone — warm golds, cool grays, and every earth tone in between. No two stones the same. No two fireplaces alike. The arched firebox opening echoes the timber trusses above it, a deliberate harmony between the home's two defining elements: wood and stone. It anchors the great room the way a mountain anchors a landscape.
